About Jason
Farr West is home—and I want to serve it by listening, planning, and taking action where it counts.
Family and Professional Life
My wife, Melissa, and I moved from Herriman to Farr West in 2020 to build our dream home and raise our three children in a community surrounded by good people and great opportunities. Since then, we've been grateful to see that hope fulfilled. We've met so many incredible neighbors and have come to deeply appreciate the strong sense of community here. We're truly blessed to call Farr West home.
Professionally, I work as a Director of Software Development for a local company that helps families save money on everyday purchases and travel through group membership programs. My entire career has been rooted in software development, with early experience in accounting and bookkeeping. I originally studied accounting at the University of Utah, but later earned my Bachelor's degree in Information Systems.
I currently serve as a voting member of the Farr West Planning Commission—not as a politician, but as a resident who wants to preserve the charm and character of our city while helping it grow in a way that makes sense for everyone.
Community Service and Involvement
As a Planning Commission member, I've taken an active role in addressing community needs beyond our regular meetings. One initiative I'm especially proud of is helping to launch a new committee focused on traffic safety and efficiency—an effort I initiated after hearing growing concerns from residents across the city. With support from City Council and other community members, we're getting early efforts underway to make our roads safer and better suited for a growing population.
Through this and other efforts, I've volunteered my time in the following roles:
- Planning commission member
- Initiated and helping to launch a new committee focused on traffic safety & efficiency
- Fishing club volunteer
- Youth City Council facilitator
- A Legislative Policy Committee representative for Farr West
- Various church responsibilities, from teaching young children to organizing local mission efforts
- Parent volunteer for the high school swim team
Why I'm Running
Farr West is a growing city, and I'd love to see it grow responsibly, with safety of our roads and neighborhoods to become a higher priority, and then of course with growth the thoughtful planning of traffic and transportation.
From the planning commission I've already had an opportunity to help influence these issues, but from city council I'd be better able to drive these priorities, work with appropriate parties, and then vote for their implementation. I'd still take an active role in influencing.
