About Jason
Farr West is home—and I want to serve it by listening, planning, and taking action where it counts.
Family and Professional Life
My wife, Melissa, and I moved from Herriman to Farr West in 2020 to build our dream home and raise our three children in a community surrounded by good people and great opportunities. Since then, we've been grateful to see that hope fulfilled. We've met so many incredible neighbors and have come to deeply appreciate the strong sense of community here. We're truly blessed to call Farr West home.
Professionally, I work as a Director of Software Development for a local company that helps families save money on everyday purchases and travel through group membership programs. My entire career has been rooted in software development, with early experience in accounting and bookkeeping. I originally studied accounting at the University of Utah, but later earned my Bachelor's degree in Information Systems.
I served as a voting member of the Farr West Planning Commission from 2022 through 2024, where I worked to preserve the charm and character of our city while helping it grow in a way that makes sense for everyone. I look forward to continuing this work on the city council with a broader scope to serve our community.
Community Service and Involvement
As a Planning Commission member, I've taken an active role in addressing community needs beyond our regular meetings. One initiative I'm especially proud of is helping to launch a new committee focused on traffic safety and efficiency—an effort I initiated after hearing growing concerns from residents across the city. With support from City Council and other community members, we're getting early efforts underway to make our roads safer and better suited for a growing population.
Through this and other efforts, I've volunteered my time in the following roles:
- Planning commission member
- Initiated and helping to launch a new committee focused on traffic safety & efficiency
- Fishing club volunteer
- Youth City Council facilitator
- A Legislative Policy Committee representative for Farr West
- Various church responsibilities, from teaching young children to organizing local mission efforts
- Parent volunteer for the high school swim team
My Commitment to Farr West
Farr West is a growing city, and I'm committed to ensuring it grows responsibly—with the safety of our roads and neighborhoods as a top priority, along with thoughtful planning of traffic and transportation to meet our community's needs.
Through my work on the planning commission, I've had valuable opportunities to influence these issues. On the city council, I'll work to drive these priorities forward more directly, partnering with stakeholders and casting votes that shape our city's future while continuing to take an active role in making Farr West a better place for all residents.
